It's Time to Register for the Annual Spring Conference submitted by Alta Longware on

The 42nd Annual NYSTEA Spring Conference will be held on March 31 and April 1, 2005 at the Buffalo State College in Buffalo, NY. The conference schedule features on-going presentations and informational sessions, vendor displays, and technical college representatives, as well as NYSTEA, ITEA, and NYSED updates. New York State Department of Education representative, Eric Suhr, will detail information and answer questions regarding New York State Education reform and potential impacts upon Technology Education. Conference topics and presentations highlight emerging technologies, interdisciplinary curriculum and activities, engineering and engineering design, automation and control, and student leadership opportunities.
Emerging technologies such as alternative fuels, biotechnology, and nanotechnology are important to the future of teaching technology education as well as the future of the our economy. Anna Waldron and Carl Batt of the Nanobiotechnology Center at Cornell University will be presenting Introduction to Nanotechnology at 10 AM on Friday morning. NYSTEA is also honored to have Mr. Keith Blakely, CEO of NanoDynamics as Keynote Speaker at the Awards Banquet scheduled on Thrusday evening at the Hyatt in downtown Buffalo.
Interdisciplinary curriculum presentations will illustrate how math, science, literature, history and technology can be taught interdependently and in support of each other, making learning relevant, effective and useful. Session will assist you to develop a student centered learning environment with a focus on invention, innovation and inquiry, using the process of design to achieve technological literacy.
The two day schedule is packed with over 50 presentation topics including New York Energy Smart Students Program, Hydrogen Fuel Cells for your Classroom, Architectural Drawing and the College Connection, Cable and Wireless Technology, Hands on Engineering by Lego Educational, The Robix Robot, Virtual Robotics and CNC Update by RJT Educational, Tech Wars, and Transition from 3D design to 3D Printing.
Over twenty-five national vendors will display and present products and materials related to technology education curriculum and facilities. This is the premier collection of vendors to be found anywhere in New York State whose primary company objective is to supply technology education programs with cutting edge software, printed texts, general materials and laboratory equipment.
