Goals for the Summer submitted by AJ Longware on
11/21/2004
I hope you had an enjoyable July 4th weekend. As President, I want to thank all of you (past as well as present board members and committee chairs), for giving so much of your time and energy to NYSTEA. Rob has done an excellent job as President and luckily we have him on the board for another year. Tim, Dan and Jan will be missed greatly, but not forgotten. We welcome Dave Arnone as NYSTEA VP, Kevin Dorsey as Secretary, Jim Hauptfleisch as Central District VP, Henry Strada as SE VP,and Al Dybas as NE District VP.
I have set several goals for the summer including the following:
1) Establish a NYSTEA calendar of events and important dates. If you have dates for mini-conferences, steak roasts, meetings, etc. that you would like included, please forward them to me ASAP.
2) Create a "Committee Goals/Contacts" section to add to Rob's President's handbook. If you have not completed the form I sent previously requesting information on committee goals, etc. please do so as soon as possible. If you need another copy of the original form, please let me know.
Please note that in an effort to respond to Joe's concern about getting more new people involved in NYSTEA board activities, I will be recruiting new people in some old positions. I will be asking VPs to take on committee co-chair positions to assist with communication w/ the board. Also,I have had several requests by new people interested in positions so many of the current chair positions will be changing this year. I will announce any new positions as soon as I have received more information.
3) Prepare and publish a president's newsletter that I am considering sending to all technology teachers, (not just NYSTEA members) in an effort to help membership. I expect this to sent by the first week of school. Any thoughts, suggestions or concerns are welcome.
I will now be communicating with you more frequently now. (Well, not as frequently as Leojets but if you'd like to be taken off my list, please let me know.)
Enjoy your summer! If any of you find your way to the Adirondack North Country, please call and/or stop in for a visit.
AJ
