Stock for deck beams is 1/8" x 3/4". You need 5 pieces for each beam. Cut the pieces the length of the forms. This should be 27" and 31". You will also need the form, two ratchet straps, plastic sheeting, polyurethane glue, water, and a stir stick.

Begin with the shorter pieces. Wet them all on one side.
DSC00229.JPG
Flip them over and wet the other side.
DSC00230.JPG
Apply a small bead of polyurethane glue to one side of the first piece.
DSC00231.JPG
Spread out the glue to completely coat one side of the first piece.
DSC00233.JPG
Place the second piece on the glue.
DSC00234.JPG
Apply a small bead of glue to the second piece.
DSC00235.JPG
Spread out the glue as before.
DSC00236.JPG
Stack the next piece on the glue. Repeat the glue application process for the remaining sticks.
DSC00240.JPG
You will have a neat stack of 5 pieces with glue between each.
DSC00241.JPG
Wrap the stack in polyethylene sheet.
DSC00242.JPG
The polyethylene is very important! Without it the glue that squeezes out of your lamination will stick to the forms.
DSC00243.JPG
You will probably need someone to help you as you begin to bend the stack around the form with the largest radius.
DSC00244.JPG
You will use a ratchet strap to tighten and hold the bundle.
DSC00246.JPG
As you tighten the strap, be careful that it does not slip off the lamination bundle. The slipery polyethylene makes this a bit challenging.
DSC00249.JPG
Before the clamp is completely tight, align all of the pieces in the bundle. You can also tap them down flush with a rubber mallet.
DSC00248.JPG
The strap will slip under the bundle in the middle if you don't keep it centered.
DSC00247.JPG
Tighten the bundle until it is tight against the form.
DSC00251.JPG
With the first lamination in place you will repeat the whole process and clamp both beams on the forms.
DSC00252.JPG
The smaller radius form requires the longer sticks.

After both beams are glued and clamped, let them cure for a few hours.
