Keep peeling until you reach the was paper.
DSC09863.JPG
Be careful NOT TO SCRATCH THE MANDREL!
DSC09864.JPG
When you reach the waxed paper you can peel away the final wrap of masking tape. Do this to both ends of the mandrel.
DSC09865.JPG
Stand the mandrel on a bench, grasp the lamination, and pull down. The laminated tube should easily slide down the mandrel.
DSC09866.JPG
Slide the mandrel out.
DSC09867.JPG
Be very careful not to drop or damage the mandrel.
DSC09868.JPG
Reach into the end of the tube and carefully and slowly pull out the waxed paper.
DSC09870.JPG
If you pull slowly, the waxed paper will spiral twist completely out.
DSC09872.JPG
If the paper begins to tear, stop and try from the other end.
DSC09873.JPG
Next you will pull out the plastic stretch wrap.
DSC09874.JPG
Very carefully and slowly pull the stretch wrap out. Do not break the wrap. If it begins to break you may need to pull from the other end of the tube.
DSC09875.JPG
Discard all the scraps and place your finished tube somewhere warm and dry to completely cure.
DSC09876.JPG
Once completely cured, you can sand off any bumps, lumps, or sharp stray glass fibers.
DSC09877.JPG
A light hand sanding may be all that is needed.
DSC09878.JPG
The tube can be cut on the band saw to fit onto your completed paddle blade.
DSC09880.JPG
Cut the other end square. This will be the center of the completed kayak paddle.
DSC09881.JPG
The shaft should tightly slide onto the paddle blade. Sand, grind, file, as necessary to rough the mating surfaces and to fit them together.
DSC09882.JPG
The shaft can be glued onto the completed blade with Polyurethane glue.
