Robotic Scare-Gull Expedition Presented by David Buchner with Evie Weinstein Come see the robotic scare-gull! A robotic device designed and built by 8th grade students in the Technology Department at DeWitt Middle School in Ithaca, New York for seabird biologists of the National Audubon Society, its sole purpose was to scare away predatory gulls on an island off the coast of Maine. By blending technology skills with conservation biology, the goal was to increase the survival rate of young puffin and tern chicks. The presentation will be about building of the robot, interdisciplinary partnerships, and the expedition to Maine. Program Time: Thursday 1:30 - 2:30 |
